Well here I am in Italy and all I can think about is root beer! They dont have anything like that here. Its kind of sad really. I knew they had none but it didn't hit til I sat down and had to get an ORANGE FANTA!!!! It was a little gross because it was warm too. Oh well. Anyways, I got here on tuesday morning, it was hot and sweaty in the naples airport but I was able to make it from the airport to the train station without any trouble. Then I got tired. To any of you thinking of making this trip um well bring less then I did. Trust me you will be ultimately happier.
After the train station in Naples I made it to the little train station in Pollena Trocchia, only to realize to my dismay that I still had to WALK for like another half mile to get to the little house we were staying in. I was so tired that the professor I was meeting finally made it down to meet me part way and help me get my stuff up all the way. I proceeded to unpack and recover. All in all it was actually really fun! I was really proud of myself that I made it as far as I had on my own. I really was pretty happy with it. So yeah! The rest of the week was filled with excavation of our site. I will describe that in more detail when I have pictures because I cant do it justice. Needless to say it is pretty amazing and it promises to get even better. Now if only I can learn more italian so I can actually speak with the other students instead of relying on grunts and hand motions it will be great.
There was a huge concert right outside of our apartment last night and this lady was so animated and funny in her dancing it was really cool.
Well I miss you all! I will write again soon. It is hard to get internet here so I will try to figure something out. Be sure to write to me!
Love you all

Archaeology

This is what archaeology looks like. Most of the time you bend over into a big hole and scrape away at the dirt for hours at a time
Not archaeology

This picture is from last summer in St. George. Sometimes we loose our minds in the sun and think we are pirates for awhile, I myself went through multiple-personality disorder. I thought I was a pirate, tinkerbell, an indian and we had fights with Russian cosmonauts. Yeah, I lost my mind.

Glad to hear you arrived safely. We will take your advice and pack light when we travel the world (since we do sooo much of that! =p) Careful what dances you learn over there. Don't get any ideas about coming home and teaching your neices something new, they already know how to wiggle their hips, much to their parents dismay. Dig up something amazing so we can all boast and brag how we are related to the famous Megan McS. who discovered an ancient treasure. When you get back we will toast your world famous expedition with rootbeer floats (or just rootbeer if you prefer).
Love,
Des, Brian, and fam
Megan my sister of mine! Oh how I missed you on my birthday. I hoped you were doing and seeing amazing things and I liked to think that you were thinking of me too on my birthday. That is so sad that you had to walk so far in such blah conditions. I've heard the Fantas are really different over there and a friend of mine reccomended that you try the blood orange(?) Fanta... I'm not sure if that is right... but she said it was really good and fruity. I also expect you to try some gelato in the near future in my honor and spare no detail in it's deliciousness.
Anyways, I didn't know where your blog was so that's why I'm just writing now and I am glad to have gotten on when I did so I could read a message instead of being disappointed at an earlier date.
So have the italians been pretty friendly thus far? I bet it would be a lot easier if you spoke too. I've heard that they are really friendly.
Oh! You need to find a pet store and see if they have pet squirrels and the like there and take some pictures for me. I think that would be so neat! haha!
Well have a great week... or whenever you read this have a good time until I talk to you again!
Love you much!
